78. Chivas Regal – 12 Year Old – Review
by Charles P.S. Eisman on Jan.17, 2010, under Chivas Brothers
Colour: Amber.
Nose: Perhaps a tad understated. You get oak straight up and then a really complex range of flavours. Bran and peaches with hints of heather honey and a dash of orange chocolate. 19
Taste: Milk chocolate with peach and orange pieces and a hint of oak on the back palate. 21
Finish: Citrus and peach sweetness up the front well balanced by oak on the mid-to-back palate. 21
Balance/Complexity: Overall, not a bad drop. Flavours are quite intertwined in their complexity and the balance is in good check. However, this whisky gives me the feeling that it’s a real fence sitter. She doesn’t want to be too much of this or too much of that, she just wants to keep everybody happy. I’m not too sure if you’ll find that a good thing or a bad thing. She’s a tad uninspiring but hey, if you’re looking for a whisky that’ll just sit down, shut up and agree with everything you say – this one’s for you! : ) 21
