Colour: Amber.
Nose: Perhaps a tad understated. You get oak straight up and then a really complex range of flavours. Bran and peaches with hints of heather honey and a dash of orange chocolate. 19
Taste: Milk chocolate with peach and orange pieces and a hint of oak on the back palate. 21

Type: Single Malt
Age: 12 years
Bottled 2009.
Colour: Pale Straw.
Nose: A savoury, light fruit and nut introduction tells you straight away this whisky is going to be a gentle and kind mistress. Further inspection reveals dried apricot and citrus notes, some cereal with hints of coconut and crisp granny smith apples. 21

Johnnie Walker – Black Label – Review

Colour: Chestnut. Olorosso Sherry.
Nose: On first encounter, the old Johnnie Walker Black gives you this wonderful complex smoky, peaty aroma with beautiful sweetness piercing through to reveal barley sugar, stewed apples, raisins and hints of cinnamon. 22
Taste: As the liquid first hits the palate there is a fantastic balance of sweet & salty flavours. Salty iodine is masterfully contrasted to barly sugar sweetness with a dash of nutmeg. 22
Finish: There’s that peatiness again – not overpowering, fading to a wonderful contrast of sweetness and saltiness begging you to wash it down with another dram. On a side note (continue reading…)
